This is another special memory I wrote based on precious moments with my grandparents. I never want to forget these times.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
I was enjoying the warmth of the nice soft, fleece blankets. When suddenly they are ripped from me and I felt two strong hands push hard into my sides. I squirm and try to escape and let out a scream. I turn to see my grandfather to continue to tickle me as he yells, “Tickle Alarm! Tickle Alarm!” I giggle as I rolled out of bed. He gives me a great big smile and asks me, “Are you ready for some breakfast, little chef?” I squealed. “Yes!” My grandfather walks out to the kitchen while I shut the door, and then put on my jeans. I then race out to the kitchen and put on my little apron. “Are you ayeing the toaster?” asked my grandfather. “Yep! Ready for duty!” We quickly get breakfast assembled and then sit down to enjoy it. My grandmother joins us. “This is delicious, dear.” She exclaims. “Why thanks honey, but I couldn’t have done it without my little bit!” He replies. I show a huge smile of pride and continue to eat. We finish up and then I give my Grandpa the ‘bill’. “What do you mean I own 300,000 dollars for breakfast? I did most of the cooking!” I giggled then darted away before he could get me. But it was too late. He swoops me up in his arms, and before I know it, I’m upside down. I let out another squeal and laugh. My grandpa lays me on the floor and sits on me. He then begins to tickle me. I laugh and yell, “Stop! I’m going to end up wetting my pants!” My grandpa lets up a bit and says, “What about that Bill?” I try to catch a breath of air and finally was able to let out, “You can pay me back later.” My grandpa smiles and gets up off of me. He stands up and gives me a hand up. He lets out a gush of air, and then plops down in his favorite brown chair.
He says, “Come here Little Bit.” I come towards him. He picks me up and sets me in his lap. It was time for my favorite time, snuggle time. I snuggle up in a small little ball really closely to him. He then begins to close his eyes. I let out a little yawn. He opens his eyes a crack and looks down at me and smiles. I look back at him and return the smile. My Grandpa gives me a little squeeze, I come in closer. I felt so happy. My grandpa had closed his eyes again. I turned my head to his ear and said, “I love you Grandpa.” He opens his eyes again that looked a little wet. And tells me, “I love you too, Little Bit, And I always will.” I gave my Grandpa another hug, then slowly my eyes droop to a close too.
Now that I’ve grown bigger I can’t snuggle on my grandpa’s lap anymore. But I still love him the same way. And I will always think back on those days when I did curl up with him for that special snuggle. We have had many cherished memories, and I will never forget them. But most of all I will never forget my grandfather and the impact he has had in my life. Encouraging me to go on farther, and that I can do anything. I love you Grandpa.
